Age Co Stairlifts are provided by Handicare Accessibility Limited and were previously known as Age UK Stairlifts.
Straight or curved stairlifts with quick installation and outstanding customer service.
The pleasure of going up and down your stairs whenever you like, may seem like a small thing to some, but it’s a big part of staying safe and keeping your independence.
Age Co Stairlifts, provided by Handicare, are a range designed to help you regain that simple pleasure – at a reasonable price.
Every stairlift complies with British and European standards and is ISO quality-approved, so you can be certain that, whichever you choose, it will be safe and reliable.
To provide a made-to-measure service, a trained technical surveyor can visit you at home to assess you and measure your stairs, explain the product options and provide a written cost quotation supported by a price-match guarantee.
If you have any questions, or would like to book a free, no-obligation survey or consultation, simply call one of the Age Co team at Handicare on 0800 566 8435.
If you have a straight staircase there are two stairlifts to choose from. The ultra slim Age Co 1100 stairlift suited to narrow staircases and the Age Co 1000 stairlift which offers a range of additional features
If your staircase turns corners or spirals, you will need a curved stairlift. The two following curved stairlifts are made to order after a survey of your individual staircase.
If your stairs are curved or even if you have a spiral staircase there is a solution for you. The 4000 Curved Stairlift is modern and versatile offering one of the tightest internal bends currently available on the market.
This flexible and user-friendly curved stairlift can accommodate the most complex of staircases and can even travel around 90 and 180 degree bends and spiral staircases.
You can select both the seat colour and seat type with the 4000 Series Curved Stairlift. This means that the stairlift will not only suit you and your home but also your decor.
This attractive system has a single, tubular rail which allows the stairlift to fit on the narrowest of stairs and navigate the tightest bends. The Freecurve is also uniquely customisable, allowing the stairlift to fit in with any home or décor.
When you reach the top of the stairs, you’ll need to swivel the seat to get off safely. There are two options:
To make sure the staircase is clear for other users, the footplate and seat can be folded up.
All stairlifts come with two remote controls – one to leave upstairs and the other downstairs. This lets you move your stairlift without sitting on it, parking it where you want or pressing a button to call it like a lift.
Some houses have a door near the bottom of the stairs, so Handicare can fit a hinged track to avoid blocking the door. These hinged tracks come in two options
If you’re having a straight stairlift, it can be fitted with a slide track. This means you won’t need a hinged track as it moves up and down the staircase at the same time as the seat.
Just like the powered hinge, the slide track works automatically when your stairlift is activated. The slide track is slightly shorter than your staircase so this means the track will move with you.
A great alternative to a stairlift, having a home lift installed can increase your independence at home and make travelling between floors a breeze.
From fully enclosed cabins, wheelchair lifts or open-car solutions, Age Co offer a range of through-the-floor lifts that can give your space a new lease of life and enable you to stay in the home you love for much longer.

No, it’s a common misconception that stairlifts are installed to the wall. This is not the case, the stairlift will be installed on the staircase itself. The technical surveyor will advise which side of the stairs will be most convenient for the stairlift to be installed on.
If the stairs are straight it will normally take around 2–3 hours. If the stairs are curved then it can take around half a day.
These stairlifts are designed to operate to the speed governed by British Standards. This is equivalent to a gentle walking pace.
Handicare do not repurchase stairlifts as the product is bespoke to you and your property.
