Vodafone Connected Age
The Tablet Loan Scheme identified digitally excluded older people and provided them with accessible technology on a loan basis, giving them the opportunity to use digital technology to improve their quality of life.
What is the Tablet Loan Scheme?
Although the number of older people in the UK who are digitally connected continues to rise, there are still around 3.1 million people aged 65 and over who do not use the internet.
The Tablet Loan Scheme addressed connectivity and digital access. Age UK delivered this programme to tackle digital exclusion by providing technology on a loan basis to older people who wouldn't otherwise have access to 'give it a go'.
The Tablet Loan Scheme ran between August 2021 and August 2022, and was delivered by 11 local Age UKs and one local Age Cymru. These areas identified older people who were most at risk of digital exclusion and provided them with a tablet and connectivity. Connected Age was funded by Vodafone.
