Age UK's Advice Line is a lifeline for many. In a world of automated messages, we understand the value of having a real person on the other end of the phone. A reassuring voice that can point you in the right direction and understands the problems you might be facing.
If you're unsure where to turn, we're here. We're here to listen every single day of the year.
205,934
In 2022 we answered 205,934 calls to our Advice Line.
Without the advice line, I wouldn't have had a chance of getting Attendance Allowance... I've bought myself a mobility scooter which has changed everything.
The Silver Line Helpline is a helpline specifically for older people. Some people call us for a chat, or just to tell us about their day. Some people call just to say good morning or goodnight to someone. Some people call to talk about their worries, knowing someone's there to listen.
Whatever the reason for the call, whatever the time of day, our volunteers are always there for a chat. They're always ready to listen.
183,280
In 2022 we handled 183,280 calls through the Silver Line Helpline.
The Silver Line calls definitely help with loneliness because if you're sitting on your own all day every day with nobody to talk to, to share any of your views with, it's very bad for your health.
We empower older people and their families with the information they need to make the best decision for them. From money and legal issues to housing, health and care, we provide advice that can help you know your right and what support might be available.
Whether you visit our website from the comfort of your own home, when you're out and about or even in the middle of a sleepless night, we're there to help you work out your next step.
In 2022 our information and advice webpages were visited 8.2 million times.
The network of over 120 local Age UKs does vital work in communities across the country. From 2021-2022 local Age UKs dealt with a total of 720,351 enquiries – a 15% increase on the previous year. In this period, they helped identify approximately £162 million in unclaimed benefits for older people.
We understand how important local support can be.
