Age UK response to Sport England funding for Open Data Institute to make it easier for people to get active:
Caroline Abrahams, Charity Director at Age UK, said:
“It’s great to see Sport England investing in digital initiatives to help people of all ages find the information they need to stay active.
“There can be a lack of choice of physical activities for older people, particularly for those with disabilities or serious long-term conditions, so being able to easily access information on the options in their local area – both online and through alternative means – is extremely important.
“We know that keeping active, by pursuing hobbies, having contact with others and taking regular exercise, can have huge benefits on mental and physical ageing. It’s never too late to start getting active so that you can have a positive impact on your life as your grow older.”
