Sienna and Savannah Miller donate Royally Hot clothes to help older people across the country

Bargain hunters could be in for the charity shop find of the year; queens of the red carpet Sienna and Savannah Miller have donated some beautiful clothes to Age UK shops as Jubilee fever hits the nation. 

The eye-catching donations are part of Age UK's Royally Hot campaign, which is calling on everyone to donate something special to its 450+ Age UK shops to be sold on to raise vital funds for older people across the country.

Lusted after by fashionistas, Sienna has given her Keungzai maternity purple drape back dress, made from model jersey with pleat detail, which is worth nearly £200. Whilst Savannah has donated a stunning Seventies-inspired Twenty8Twelve wide-legged black jumpsuit, which has graced glossy magazines around the world and will now be sold in an Age UK shop.

The money raised by Age UK's Royally Hot campaign will help the Charity to deliver hands-on local services such as lunch clubs and home safety checks, as well as hugely important national work like its free advice line (open 365 days a year) and vital campaigning work. Age UK works tirelessly to influence politicians and decision makers on issues that affect older people everyday, such as pensions, care provision and fuel poverty.

Hugh Forde, Managing Director of Age UK Trading, said: 'Holidays and celebrations during the summer interrupt our schedules and donations rapidly decline as a result - particularly this year with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, Olympics and Euro 2012.'

'We're hoping that with big names like Sienna and Savannah Miller backing Age UK's Royally Hot campaign, it will act as a reminder to people to donate quality unused clothing or goods to our 450+ Age UK shops, which is a great way to support the Charity and make a real difference to older peoples lives when money is tight.'

While demand for second-hand clothes, books, music and home-ware is rising, as more middle-income families shun boutiques for bargains¹, the drop in donations is putting pressure on stock levels in Age UK's 450+ shops.

According to recent research, one in six people are now selling their clothes to make some extra pocket money, while 15% of people are keeping their clothes for longer as they can't afford to buy new pieces. But there are still millions of people, with unwanted clothing and goods just sitting at home that could be used by Age UK².
