Age UK comments on Michelle Mitchell's departure
Tom Wright, Group Chief Executive of Age UK, said:
"Michelle Mitchell will be leaving Age UK in late August to become Chief Executive of the MS Society.
"I would like to congratulate Michelle on such a prestigious role, although I am very sorry to lose such a talented, professional and successful leader.
"For over a decade Michelle has championed the cause to improve later life. She has played a crucial role in establishing Age UK as the leading force in improving outcomes for older people and has established a strong platform from which we will continue our charitable work. I wish Michelle every success for the future."
Of her time at Age UK and Age Concern Michelle said:
"It has been a real honour and privilege to work with and for people in later life at Age UK, and before this at Age Concern England, and to be part of a team and network that has led pioneering, research, policy, campaigns and services that have fundamentally improved the lives of so many older people. Our achievements have been significant and would not have happened without the tireless work of many people at Age UK and within our network. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with everyone at Age UK over the years.
"I am looking forward to working with staff and volunteers at the MS Society to build on the excellent achievements of the last 60 years."
