Every pound you raise will have an impact on older people's lives.
£40 could help pay towards in-depth support from a specialist advisor for an older person who is struggling to make ends meet
£140 could help pay for a Benefits Entitlement Check, to identify additional income for an older person during the cost of living crisis
£250 could help pay towards a whole year of telephone friendship calls to a lonely older person who has no one to talk to
83-year-old Mashud, from Leeds, found life difficult following his divorce and his children leaving home. The hours between Mosque visits seemed very quiet – and his mobility problems left him feeling cut off.
“People did not know how lonely I was. And how sad I was,” says Mashud.
Mashud is grateful for the weekly calls he now receives through Age UK's Telephone Friendship Service. “If you are one of the silent brigade like me, it's a bit daunting to make friends with strangers,” says Mashud. “But the Age UK calls make me less lonely. They make me happy for the 30 minutes I'm on the phone.”
Every runner will have their own fundraising page to collect online donations, but you can use our simple form to pay in any additional money you've raised offline.
