Yorkshire Building Society
In the Summer of 2020, Yorkshire Building Society members and colleagues voted Age UK as their chosen Charity Partner until 2023. Age UK’s vital work really resonated with colleagues and members of all ages – and together we began working to build better lives for older people.
Over 2 million older people live in poverty and Yorkshire Building Society wanted to help Age UK change this.
Together we created a partnership that aimed to raise £1million to help Age UK provide vital information and advice to around 4,700 older people in local communities across the UK.
Age UK’s Corporate Partnerships team worked with Yorkshire Building Society to create a bespoke events calendar.
It had something for all their staff to get involved in – including their retail colleagues in over 200 locations across the UK. Whether it was hosting hamper prize draws across Yorkshire Building Society’s retail network, region-wide hiking challenges or a 5k Colour Run – there was something that all staff could do to help Age UK be there for older people most in need.
Our partnership also evolved further than fundraising, into a strategic partnership for Age UK and Yorkshire Building Society.
Age UK was able to upskill Yorkshire Building Society colleagues across the UK to help them support older people in their lives.
Millions of older people do not have someone they can turn for support – which is why Age UK is here to help older people when they need it.
Yorkshire Building Society colleagues are pillars of their communities right up and down the country. Together we’ve been able to help Yorkshire Building Society colleagues to support older customers that they are worried about, by signposting them to Age UK’s national and local services. We’ve created simple resources and guidance that Yorkshire Building Society have been able to roll out across all their locations so that together we can reach more older people that need Age UK’s vital support.
This partnership raised over £1 million to help Age UK to support nearly 5,000 older people with tailored one to one support, whilst also helping both organisations to better support older people and their families in communities across the UK.
Everyone at Yorkshire Building Society has loved getting behind our partnership with Age UK, from taking part in bake sales, to Pennine walks, to helping our customers receive the support they need through Age UK - they can all see the impact that our partnership is having. This partnership perfectly represents Yorkshire Building’s Society commitment to helping people of all ages in our communities and we know that our partnership with Age UK is making a real difference to people’s lives.
