M&G plc
Age UK and M&G plc forged a strategic partnership over a decade ago, based on a shared goal to help vulnerable older people prepare for the biggest challenges of later life, giving them the best chance of staying resilient through the toughest times.
Over the years this partnership has evolved and together we’ve developed many elements – from the delivery of strategic programmes, research, and joint policy work to employee engagement.
M&G plc is currently funding Building Resilience, a four-year programme which aims to reach over 37,729 older people by providing an in-depth information and advice service in local communities, as well as support and advice through Age UK’s National Advice Line.
In addition, M&G plc is supporting Age UK’s Telephone Friendship Service, an award-winning programme which aims to tackle loneliness.
Volunteers from M&G plc have been matched with a lonely older person, based on their common interests. They make a weekly 30-minute call to their telephone friends to have a chat, give them some company and brighten their week. For many older people, this may be the only meaningful conversation they’ll have all week so M&G’s support is crucial to help us improve the wellbeing of many older people.
Our partnership with M&G plc continues to go from strength to strength and enables Age UK to help thousands of older people when they need it the most.
We believe that it’s important to be active and engaged to make our business and society stronger and more resilient. We want our investment to have a sustainable benefit for our communities, our customers, and our business. So, we work with charities and NGOs on local, national and international programmes that bring colleagues together and make a lasting difference to our communities.
We have worked with Age UK for more than a decade, delivering bespoke support to some of those most in need. What’s great about the Building Resilience programme is its holistic, tailored and considered approach and it is impressive to see that it has helped to identify over £11 million of unclaimed benefits for some of the most disadvantaged in society. We are delighted with the programme.
