Nimble-fingered Coleraine knitter, Rosemary Neely, has knitted over 2,500 tiny hats to support Age NI fundraising through its Innocent Smoothie Big Knit campaign. Age NI receives 25p for every tiny hat, which will sit on top of smoothie bottles in the autumn. Rosemary’s amazing contribution has raised a fantastic £640!
Rosalind Cole, Age NI Fundraising Manager said, “Rosemary has been knitting for the Innocent Big Knit Campaign since 2014, and she has produced some amazing knitted creations from frogs to Elmo, and from elves to toadstools! It was a pleasure to welcome her to the Age NI office last week when she delivered an incredible 2560 little hats – the fruits of over two years’ labour! She told us each one takes around 25 minutes – we’re in awe of her skills!
“We've been working with innocent drinks since 2003, asking crafters to knit little hats for the tops of Innocent smoothie bottles. Every hat that we receive raises much-needed funds for our services to support older people in Northern Ireland. Rosemary’s contribution will be added to around 15,000 other knitted hats, which will help to make a real difference to the lives of local older people. We are sincerely grateful to Rosemary and all of the incredible knitters all over Northern Ireland who have supported the Big Knit!”
The be-hatted Innocent smoothie bottles will be on sale in shops across Northern Ireland in the autumn, so be sure to keep an eye out for one of Rosemary’s creations!
