Consultative Forum
Age Cymru's Consultative Forum was established in 2011, after extensive consultation across Wales.
Our vision is a society which offers all people in Wales the best experience of later life. Older people are valued, included and able to shape decisions affecting their lives. The Consultative Forum plays a key role at Age Cymru and helps ensure that the voices of older people are heard at all levels of our organisation.
The Consultative Forum
- provides guidance in relation to the key activities of Age Cymru;
- contributes to Age Cymru events and activities including conferences, policy development, publications, etc.;
- offers feedback about the overall strategic direction and operational activities of Age Cymru.
Membership
The Consultative Forum has a wide and diverse membership to ensure that a range of stakeholder and service user views and experience is available to the charity. The membership ensures involvement of organisations, groups and individual older people aged 50+ from across Wales and includes people who can make contributions from national, regional, local and individual perspectives. In addition to spaces allocated for specific national or regional groups, a number of individual members were recruited by public appointment. The Consultative Forum has a maximum of 40 members.
The elected chair of Consultative Forum also sits as a trustee on the Age Cymru Board.
Activities
The Consultative Forum meets 2 - 3 times a year at locations across Wales and online. In addition to the Trustee Chair, a Trustee of the Age Cymru Board attends the Consultative Forum to act as an additional link back to the Board. At every meeting the agenda includes one or two major policy items for discussion, chosen by Age Cymru.
