Tribute to our friend Phyllis

Everyone at Age Cymru is saddened to hear of the passing of our friend Phyllis Preece.
Phyllis was a strong advocate for the rights of women and older people not only in Wales but across the UK. She was also an ambassador for Age Cymru and stood alongside us in our policy and campaigning work fighting for the rights of older people.
Phyllis was always someone willing to help us in any way she could, she regularly spoke to the media about issues affecting older people, she attended and volunteered at our fundraising events including our Gala Dinner and Awards and sold leeks outside Central Station to support our vital work.
Phyllis was a significant figure in the older people’s organisations in Wales with NPC Wales, Pensioners Forum and COPA (Cymru Older Peoples Alliance).
But mostly, Phyllis was our friend, words cannot express how much we will miss her passion for campaigning, her humour, her amazing strength but also her friendship.
Thank you Phyllis for everything you’ve done, not only for Age Cymru, but for all older people in Wales and across the UK. We shall miss you deeply.
Our sincere thoughts and condolences are with her family at this sad time.
