We've been made aware of some concerns regarding our pilot Care Home Volunteer project.

Age Cymru is understanding of the very challenging and upsetting time the last 18 months has been for those who have been unable to visit families and friends living in care homes. We would like to make it very clear that the aim of this pilot project is to support care homes in welcoming visits from family and friends; volunteers will not take the place of much missed and much needed visits.

We're currently working with seven care homes to understand how a ‘Meet and Greet’ volunteer may support safe and meaningful visits. The role of the volunteer will be to welcome visitors, show them where to hand sanitise and take a Covid test and to show them to the designated visiting area if required. The volunteer will not be spending time with the residents.
