Age Cymru's response to the Westminster Government's announcement on support packages

Age Cymru’s chief executive Victoria Lloyd said: “We welcome the specific support for older people, as they’re disproportionally affected by the cost of living crisis with many telling us how they’re already struggling to make ends meet. And we welcome that the £200 loan has increased to a £400 non-payable grant, as this has caused concern for a number of older people. However, what is the long term plan as there is so much uncertainty surrounding energy costs.  Today’s announcement will do little to allay people’s long term fears. We want to see the level of benefits and state pension raised this financial year so they keep pace with inflation to help support older people in the longer term.”
