Advice and support for older people during challenging times
St John’s Methodist Church, Mostyn Street
11 June 2024 - 10.30am to 2pm
Age Alliance Wales, a collection of charities providing information and services for older people, will be hosting a roadshow event at the St John’s Methodist Church in Mostyn Street, Llandudno next month.
The roadshow, which is free of charge, will provide information and support on a wide range of issues relevant to older people including arthritis, stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, and caring for a person living with dementia.
While volunteers linked to the Royal National Institute of the Deaf (RNID Cymru) will be offering on the spot checks for hearing loss and tinnitus.
Prime Cymru, the organisation tasked with helping older people to get back into paid work or training, will be especially important for those who want to increase their income during a cost-of-living crisis.
The Alliance’s Chris Williams says “We know that older people in Wales are facing some really tough challenges right now as they grapple with NHS waiting times, long delays to accessing social care, and the cost-of-living crisis.
“And we know they must face these issues on top of the normal challenges of ageing such as arthritis, hearing loss, and caring responsibilities.
“However, we want to assure older people that they are not alone and that there are lots of organisations out there ready to offer their support. So, I would urge any older person in the area, or their friends and relatives, to come along to the roadshow and seek the support needed for a more comfortable later life.”
